What is soundness?

Meditation of the Week

If, indeed, “all men [including those yet to live] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” then "no generation has license to diminish the unalienable rights of subsequent generations by changing the biogeochemical systems of Earth of impairing the stability, integrity, and beauty of biotic systems, the consequences of which are a form of intergenerational tyranny."

Recipe of the Week

Tangy Carrots 6 servings

450 g carrots, baby or mature sliced on the diagonal

3 T butter (less if you are watching fat)

1 large shallot julienned

2 T lime juice (orange will work, too)

1 T dry ground mustard (or 2 T "stone ground" mustard condiment)

salt and fresh ground pepper

3 T chopped fresh parsley

Place steamer or double boiler with colander on the fire. While the water comes to boil, prepare carrots.

Steam carrots 8-10 minutes

In saucepan, melt butter and sautee shallot for 3-4 minutes (until it begins to be glossy). Add lime juice, mustard, salt and pepper. Stir while heating thoroughly.

Place carrots in medium bowl, pour sauce all over and sprinkle on parsley. Toss to coat. Serve hot or cold for a colorful and vitamin packed dish.

This is absolutely Cristian's and my favorite restaurant in town. There is a buffet available at every lunch which is 75% vegetarian, with two or more meat dishes and dessert served, as well. You can, also, order off of the menu, day or evening.

Strict vegetarians be happy! Neither the pans nor ovens cross meat with non-meat. Meat-lovers, the chicken is cooked to the point of buttery deliciousness, and lamb and shrimp are now being offered (ask your server the fresh meat of the day, if you do not see it on the menu). And it is so affordable, fresh, and lovingly prepared.

Christen's favorite part of the meal is the bottomless chai tea. Cristian's favorite meal at the Taste of India "is the buffet." When pressured, he declares that his mouth waters for the Chicken Tikka Masala, but he always eats more vegetable dishes than meat. Sayde has yet to find anything she doesn't like, but she always enjoys seconds on "Aloo Gobi," a mixed vegetable dish with califlower, potatoes, fresh ginger and belly-warming spices.

You HAVE to try this restaurant. Join us on occasional Sundays when we venture out for lunch after a morning of yoga at the Soundness with Sayde Home Studio.
